worldwide.
Calls between Viber members are
absolutely free, but if you call a landline or a Smartphone that doesn’t
have Viber installed, then you will be charged a nominal fee, with
their service called Viber Out.

With
this App you can chat with Facebook friends on your Mobile phone, as
well as on the website. Like in any other Messaging Apps, using this App
enables you to share photos and to share your location at your
discretion. The App comes with video call, chat, file sending and image
attaching facilities.
This App is available for
Android, iOS, Windows and Blackberry OS platforms. Facebook Messenger is
a free App, but limited to your friends and acquaintances.

Skype
Now
owned by Microsoft, Skype is the undisputed leader of VOIP providers
across the globe. It is platform independent, it work on almost all the
platforms available today such as Windows, Android, Blackberry, Symbian,
Linux, iOS and Windows Phones.
Skype, though known
to be a freemium VOIP client, it has to be noted that only calls
between Skype members are free. If you have to call a landline or a
mobile number which is not linked to Skype yet, you have to subscribe by
paying comparatively low fees than what you pay for such services in
the domestic market. For example, you can call worldwide for a nominal
fee of US$ 13.99 a month.

Although
our title says Top 5, we could not decide which Messenger Application
should stand in our 5th place in the five best and most popular
messaging apps. Hence we shared the fifth place between two major and
up-coming applications: the BlackBerry Messenger and GooglePlus
Hangouts. So instead of the Top 5 messaging apps, here are two more
sharing our 5th place, making them Top 6 best instant messenger
applications altoghether.
BlackBerry Messenger
Blackberry’s instant messaging and video phone services are available for Blackberry, iOS, Android and Windows Phones, too.
It
is a free to download App, and if you do not have access to internet
through 3G/4G or Wi-Fi, your suppliers' normal data transfer charges
apply.

Google
is continuously growing. So we cannot ignore its great Messenger App:
Google+ Hangouts from Google is another instant messaging platform, with
the usual options from video chat to file sending and photo sharing. It
is available for Mac iOS, Windows Phones and Linux.
Although calls to US / Canada are free, for other international destinations there is a nominal fee to pay.
